DoD Launches TRICARE Demonstration to Add Separate Ambulance Reimbursement for Pre-Hospital Blood Transfusions

DoD announced a five-year TRICARE demonstration project to test paying an unbundled add-on amount to the TRICARE ambulance fee schedule for medically necessary pre-hospital blood transfusions. The project aims to evaluate whether separate reimbursement improves access and supports appropriate use of this capability in emergency transport settings.
