GAO: DOD Should Communicate More Clearly with Providers in Military Child Care Fee Assistance Program

GAO reports that DOD’s child care fee assistance program expanded significantly from FY 2019 to FY 2024, with most growth occurring after FY 2021 as funding increased and the program expanded to more states. GAO recommends DOD improve communication with community-based child care providers participating in the program.
