GAO: DOD Should Improve How It Determines Military Cost-of-Living Allowances (COLA)

A GAO review found DOD relies on three main data sources and processes to set COLA for service members in CONUS and OCONUS locations, but identified weaknesses in how those processes are carried out. GAO recommends DOD improve its methods and oversight to ensure COLA determinations better reflect service member spending and local price differences.
