GAO: Military Services Use Recruitment and Retention Incentives for Child Care Workers

A GAO report finds the military services use ongoing monetary incentives—such as recruitment bonuses and retention allowances—to attract and keep child care workers paid with nonappropriated funds. In 2024, the Air Force, Army, and Marine Corps reported providing 4,955 incentives, with the Air Force accounting for the majority.
