GAO: OPM Can’t Verify True Cost of Deferred Resignation Program After Extended Paid Leave Use

A GAO report found 779 federal employees have used more than a year of paid leave since 2023 under the Deferred Resignation Program. GAO says OPM cannot verify the program’s true cost, raising oversight and accountability concerns for the federal workforce.
