GAO Updates Priority Recommendations for OPM, Citing Improper Payments, IT Management, and Workforce Issues

GAO reported that OPM has implemented three of 14 priority recommendations identified in August 2025, and GAO removed priority status from three recommendations in July 2026. GAO says OPM still needs timely action in preventing improper payments, strengthening IT management, and managing the federal workforce.
