OPM Final Rule Adds Prescribed Wildland Fire Duties as Eligible for Hazardous/Environmental Differential Pay

OPM issued a final rule expanding covered duties for differential pay to include prescribed (planned) wildland fire activities. GS employees may receive Hazardous Duty Pay and FWS employees may receive Environmental Differential Pay—generally a 25% differential—when serving on a firefighting crew engaged on the fireline implementing prescribed fire operations.
