OPM makes it easier for agencies to award up to $25,000 bonuses to top-performing feds

OPM has updated guidance to make it easier for agencies to grant large performance-based cash awards—up to $25,000—for top-performing federal employees. The agency also set a cap on how many employees can receive the top two performance ratings starting in fiscal 2026, which could affect eligibility for the biggest awards.
