OPM proposes new FEHBP enrollment verification requirements to prevent ineligible coverage

OPM has published proposed regulations to implement a 2025 law requiring stronger verification of FEHBP enrollments. The changes aim to reduce improper spending after a GAO report estimated the government could be paying up to $1 billion annually for health benefits for people who are no longer eligible.
