Proposed OPM Rule Would Delay Competitive Status for Schedule Policy/Career Employees and Eliminate Trial Period

OPM has proposed a rule affecting Schedule Policy/Career employees that would require a two-year wait to gain competitive status and would not include a trial (probationary) period. If finalized, the change could alter how these employees transition into the competitive service and how agencies manage their early tenure.
